The program is designed for neurodiverse young adults with average or near-average cognitive abilities who are able to participate safely in a group setting without significant disruptive behavioural challenges but will benefit from support with:

What makes GetLifeReady unique?

LifeReady is not a traditional classroom program or daycare-style program. It is a highly specialized and one-of-a-kind program,

Our program focuses on helping participants learn how to think through situations, problem solve, become more independent, and function successfully in real-world environments — not just complete worksheets or isolated tasks.

Why is LifeReady different from other social or life skills programs?

Many programs focus mainly on supervision or basic social opportunities. GetLifeReady focuses on:

  • real-world application

Participants practice skills in meaningful settings such as:

Does the program provide one-on-one support?

Depending on the participant’s needs and program structure, individualized support and coaching opportunities may be incorporated throughout the program.

Is LifeReady a tutoring program?

No. While participants may naturally strengthen learning-related skills such as planning, organization, and task completion, LifeReady is primarily focused on real-life independence, executive functioning, and practical life skills.

Can participants attend multiple days or weeks?

Participants are required to register for the full month, as the program is designed to build skills progressively through consistent routines, group development, and ongoing coaching. At this time, we do not offer individual daily rates or drop-in options.

Is there an extended care option?

Yes. Optional extended respite/support hours may be available after regular program hours.

Many families appreciate that LifeReady goes beyond traditional social skills programs by helping participants build the thinking, flexibility, and independence needed for everyday life.

Yes. Physical and recreational activities are incorporated throughout the program to help support emotional regulation, body awareness, teamwork, confidence, and overall well-being. Depending on weather and scheduling, participants may participate in walks, movement games, movement breaks, and twice-weekly access to a tennis ball machine centre.

Is there physical activity included in the program?

Will participants receive progress reports?

Yes. Participants will receive brief progress reports that outline individual goals, participation, and activities worked on throughout the program.

What is GetLifeReady Parent Coaching?

Each month, all participants’ parents/guardians will be invited to a complimentary 1.5-hour virtual group meeting conducted by our Executive Director, Tahnee Lam, to ask questions and discuss ways to support the participant at home.

Executive Director Tahnee Lam

Tahnee holds a Master’s degree in Integrated Studies in Educational Studies and is a Certified Relationship Development Intervention® (RDI®) Program Consultant and a Category A Behaviour Consultant listed on the Registry of Autism Service Providers. With over 22 years of experience serving the neurodiverse community, Ms. Lam brings extensive clinical expertise supporting more than 500 neurodiverse children and youth. Her work integrates Behavioural Intervention, RDI® principles, and executive functioning strategies to provide thoughtful, relationship-based, and developmentally informed support for individuals and families.

Senior Behaviour Consultant Aisling McGee

Aisling is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) who has been with New Step Consultation Services since 2020. With over 10 years of experience supporting children with neurodiversity, she provides individualized support across clinic, home, and community settings. Aisling values collaboration with families and professionals to help each child reach their potential.

Other Team Members

Our program facilitators are university graduates with diverse backgrounds in behavioural intervention, education, social work, and childcare. Facilitators are trained to provide supportive, structured, and relationship-based guidance while helping participants build independence, social communication, executive functioning, and real-world life skills in both clinic and community settings.
