"A parent-based intervention program where parents are provided the tools to effectively teach Dynamic Intelligence skills and motivation to their child"
Please find detailed information about RDI® on the following link: www.rdiconnect.com
A free consultation (1 hour) will be provided for families who are interested in the program (within Greater Vancouver area).
Each program is individually customized to accommodate the family’s needs and includes:
- - Assessment
- - Training sessions
- - On-going consultation support
- - Program reports
We also offer services to distant and international clients (outside the Greater Vancouver area). International and distant services will be provided via video monitoring, emails, and telephone consultation.
Learning how to understand and behave with others is an essential life lesson for all children. Effective social functioning - the ability to be accepted and to cope in society -- requires an individual to be socially competent.
Main components of Social Competence:
- Social skills
- Emotional regulation
- Social cognition
- Relationship development
- Behavioral regulation
These components help to clarify that social competence is not simply a result of good social skills or demonstrating good behaviors, but rather, the result of a set of dynamic, interrelated concepts. For example, an individual who displays no maladaptive behavior may still experience difficulty forming peer relationships due to deficits in their knowledge of social skills; another individual may understand the use of social skills and not display any maladaptive behavior but may have trouble with social relationships due to the lack of social cognition.
Our individually customized program covers all main components of social competence in order for each child to learn the skills and utilize them in natural environments. We offer both "one-on-one" and "group" programs.
Each program includes:
- Assessment
- Social Competence sessions taught by our staff
- Monthly session taught by our program director
- Term-end meetings/training for parents
- Playdate observation (optional)
